At first, his favourite subjects were mostly his own chairs. But it was during the swinging sixties, in the exuberant city of London, that his career as a fashion photographer took off. Vanrijk was one of the most famous Belgian fashion photographers of the 70s and 80s, creating numerous catalogues, presenting the clothes of the most prestigious designers along with those less well known. Georges Vanrijk werd in Brussel (B) geboren. Ooit was hij meubelmaker, binnenhuisarchitect en industrieel designer om daarna op zijn 36ste een carrière als fotograaf op te starten.
Aanvankelijk fotografeerde hij vooral zijn eigen zetelontwerpen. Later lag een werkperiode in Londen tijdens het “Carnaby-tijdperk” aan de basis van zijn loopbaan als modefotograaf.
In de jaren 70 en 80 was Vanrijk een van de Belgische topfotografen in de modewereld. Hij maakte talloze catalogi van bekende en minder bekende`modemerken, velen wilden hun collectie zien door de ogen en de lens van Georges Vanrijk.

Zijn foto-schilderijen zijn beschikbaar op 90 x 90 of 120 x 120 cm. In het origineel kunstwerk vervangt de foto niet de tekening, maar maakt er integraal deel van uit, een fusie tussen fotografie en schilderkunst. Deze succesvolle combinatie werd voor het eerst geprobeerd in de 20ste eeuw door Amerikaanse kunstenaars en Georges-Charles Vanrijk. Né à Bruxelles (B), Georges Vanrijk a été ébéniste, architecte d’intérieur et designer industriel avant de commencer sa carrière de photographe à l’âge de 36 ans.
Au début, ses sujets préférés étaient surtout ses propres fauteuils.
Mais c’est à Londres, ville exubérante à l’époque de Carnaby, que sa carrière de photographe de mode a pris son envol.
Dans les années 70 et 80, Vanrijk est un des photographes de mode belges les plus célèbres de l’époque, créateur de nombreux catalogues, présentant les vêtements de marques prestigieuses ou moins connues. Chacun voulait voir sa collection par les yeux et la caméra de Georges Vanrijk.

Les photos-peintures sont au format 90 x 90 cm ou 120 x 120 cm. Ici la photo ne remplace pas le dessin, mais elle fait partie de l′ouvre qui est une fusion photo-peinture.
